 James C. [Jim] Roling was born in Troy, Alabama, on August 4, 1943.  Jim attended Troy Public Schools and graduated from Troy State University in 1968 with a BS in History. While attending Troy State University, Jim was employed as a staff announcer with WTBF AM gaining experience in sales during his junior and senior year at the University.  Upon graduation, Jim became sales manager on WINH AM & FM in Georgetown, South Carolina. In 1979, Jim was asked to return to WTBF in Troy as sales manager. He purchased the station in 1986 and was granted construction authority from The Federal Communications Commission to construct WTBF FM in 1996. The WTBF AM & FM studios were moved from their fifty-year location on The Troy University Campus to a new facility in the downtown business district. Since 1980, Jim has been active in a number of business and civic organizations including The Troy Rotary Club, The Pike County Chamber of Commerce and United Appeal. He has served on The City of Troy Planning & Zoning Commission and Troy University Housing Authority and serves on The Alabama Department of Education Marketing Advisory Committee for Public Schools and Colleges. Business membership includes The International Broadcasters Idea Bank, member, former Board Member and President of The Alabama Broadcasters Association. Jim is currently a member of The Alabama Congressional Delegation Committee of the ABA. In 1998, Jim was honored as Alabama Broadcaster of the Year and was inducted into The Alabama Broadcasters Hall of Fame in 2008.

  Jim and his wife Angie have one daughter, Caylor, 35, of Portland, Oregon. The Rolings reside in Troy and Bullock County. They attend the historic Mount Hilliard United Methodist Church in Bullock County.
